In 1984, Dr. Robert Cialdini described the 6 principles of influence in his iconic work “Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion”. In 2017, these ideas and principles are widely employed by attackers (spammers, phishers, malware creators) in order to circumvent what has been called the weakest link of Information Security, the human factor.
This session will discuss:
- the 6 influence principles (by Dr. Cialdini)
- how these principles are utilized to improve the success rate of spam / phish email
- the driving forces of what makes us “click on the link” to be able to defend against it
