Head of Data Science, New Scientist
Kim Karman has spent the past 10 years at New Scientist, the world’s most read weekly science and technology news magazine and growing media organisation. As Head of Data Science, she is responsible for enabling and dedicating New Scientist to analytical thinking in order to develop better products, make smart business decisions and reach larger audiences. Her remit also includes leveraging the vast amount of data on editorial content, readers, customers, campaigns, purchases and products along with statistical modelling to find insights for high-level management and strategy and support technology development and content creation.
Her previous experiences include working in audience development and marketing. Prior to working for New Scientist, she worked for the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council advocating for economic development initiatives within the state. A scientist at heart, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in Molecular Biology and Genetics.
